Hand-Sewn Clothes

In a fast world, hand-sewn clothing can be a radical act of slow fashion. After all, what could be slower, more manual, more personal, more intentional, than stitching a garment entirely with one's own hands, without a machine?

For the past few years, I've been delving deeply into this world of hand-sewn clothing, researching, experimenting, and — most of all — stitching. I even wrote a book about it.

Progressing farther down this path of hand sewing, I witness wisdom, beauty, strength, cleverness, community, and vitality. These thousands of slow, mindful little stitches? They are everything.

Shown below are a few of my hand-sewn clothing projects. All patterns are my own, except the Watson Bra from Cloth Habit.
